Birdwatching at Cley Marshes

|

Another very bright mid November day Cley Marshes. With the daytime temperature still above 18 degrees at the marsh, Dragon flies and butterflies were still the wing. The winter visitors were  still a bit thin on the ground, reports of a small flock of Snow buntings on the shore heading for Sheringham and a a few waxwings had been seen along the coast. However we had great views of four Marsh Harriers over the reed beds and a Cattle Egret on Pats pool along with Teal, Wigeon, Pochard and Pintails.

Bishops Hide

At the Bishops hide we  were entertained by two little  Grebe’s fishing, over a 30  minute period they managed to catch about five or six small  fish  and when they moved off  two Common Snipe moved into  probe the soft mud. We also had  the opportunity to get some  close up images of a pair of  Mute Swans and Pintails
